Bighorns Fourth Quarter Surge Falls Short in Idaho

BOISE, Idaho - Despite the Bighorns outshooting the Idaho Stampede from the field and Vince Hunter logging a double-double, the Bighorns fell 122-115 to the Idaho Stampede Tuesday night at the Century Link Arena in Boise, Idaho.

Ledo paced the Bighorns with 29 points, nine rebounds and two assists as David Stockton followed Ledo closely netting 28 points, grabbing six rebounds and adding seven assists. Vince Hunter finished the Tuesday night contest with 23 points and 10 rebounds.

In the first quarter, Stockton led the Bighorns with nine points and two assists. Ledo tallied seven points and two assists in the quarter as Hunter scored seven points and three rebounds.

Ledo and Hunter paced the Bighorns in the second quarter with nine points and three rebounds each while Stockton had five points and two rebounds in the second.

The Bighorns trailed the Stampede 67-51 at the half.

During the third quarter, Stockton notched eight points while Hunter and Ledo totaled five points and three rebounds each. Cliff Hammonds scored four points in the quarter.

In the final quarter, the Bighorns heated up, outscoring the Stampede 39-23. Ledo led the team in the quarter with eight points as Hammonds added seven points, two rebounds and two assists for the Bighorns. Reggie Hearn notched six points and three rebounds in the third while Chad Toppert had six points and two rebounds. The Bighorns shot 71 percent from the three-point range compared to the Stampede shooting 25 percent from behind the arc.

The Bighorns continue on the road, traveling to Bakersfield to face the Bakersfield Jam Thursday night at 7 p.m. (PST) before returning to the Reno Events Center Sunday, Jan. 31 at 3 p.m. to host the Santa Cruz Warriors.
