The Canton Charge (12-13), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell on the road in overtime to the Delaware 87ers (16-12), 130-123, at the Bob Carpenter Center on Tuesday afternoon.
Delaware's Jordan McRae set a new NBA Development League record in the game by scoring 61 points on 21-of-34 shooting, including 16-of-18 from the foul line. McRae also added 11 rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in 45 minutes of play.
Quinn Cook led Canton with a season-high 33 points on 12-of-23 shooting and four assists in 37 minutes. Nick Minnerath posted his fifth double-double of the season by netting 29 points on 9-of-16 shooting and 11 rebounds in 39 minutes off the bench. Jorge Gutierrez scored 14 points, grabbed five rebounds and grabbed a season-high five steals in 40 minutes. John Holland added 18 points for the Charge.
With the game tied 112-112 after regulation, Delaware came out in overtime and scored on all eight of their possessions, including three three-pointers and 7-of-8 free throws. The extra time came after Minnerath converted an old-fashioned three-point play with 49.8 seconds left to put Canton up 112-110. Both teams traded misses on the next two possessions before McRae hit a turnaround jumper with 5.4 seconds left to force overtime.
The 87ers' Ty Greene poured in a season-high 21 points with five rebounds and two blocks in 36 minutes. Russ Smith came off the bench to add 18 points and three steals in 26 minutes for the Sevens.
Canton continues their road trip with a Central Division matchup on Thursday, January 28th at 7:00 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (Indiana Pacers affiliate). The Charge return home to the Civic Center on Tuesday, February 9th at 7:00 p.m. against the Grand Rapids Drive (Detroit Pistons affiliate).
