
Stampede Names Staudt Assistant Coach

BOISE, ID- September 20, 2004- Joe Wolf, Idaho Stampede Head Coach, announced today that he has selected Jason Staudt to serve as his top assistant.
Coach Wolf said of his newly appointed assistant, "Jason is a young man who knows exactly what he wants and how to accomplish it. He has worked with the Orlando Magic on the court, reviewing video and as an advanced scout. All of his skills and personality has made him a great find for my staff and the Stampede organization."
Coach Staudt has spent the past three seasons with the NBA's Orlando Magic as an advanced scout and video coordinator. His responsibilities included assisting in on court instruction and player development, scouting opponents and preparing reports for the coaching staff, and all video operations. Coach Staudt's efforts were rewarded as the Magic made the NBA Playoffs during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
Prior to joining the Orland Magic in 2001, Staudt served as a Student Assistant and Head Manager for Texas Tech University. His duties included assisting in individual and team practices, recruiting and video editing. During the 1995-96 season, Staudt and the Red Raiders compiled a 30-2 season (Best Record in School History), made an NCAA Sweet 16 Tournament Appearance and was named 1996 Southwest Conference Regular Season Champions.
Also joining Coach Wolf and Staudt on the bench this season is Travis Russell. Russell began his career with the Stampede as a coaching intern under Bobby Dye during the Stampede's inaugural 1997-98 season. Russell has spent the past six seasons with the Stampede assisting with practices, player recruitment and development, scouting and statistical analysis.
The Stampede begins their seventh season on the road November 19 and 20, against the Yakima Sun Kings and returns on Friday, November 26, for a three-game homestand to tip-off against the Great Lakes Storm at 7:10 p.m. for their home season opener.
