BOISE, Idaho, October 12, 2011 - The 2011 NBA Development League's Draft Lottery took place at the League's annual coaches meetings in Denver, Colo. yesterday, with the Idaho Stampede winning the ninth overall selection in the first round. That pick, which was traded to Erie last year, in combination with Dakota's trade to now-defunct Utah, gives the Stampede their first pick in the second round at 23rd overall. The Stampede then select 25th, 33rd, 40th, 44th, 55th, 72nd, 87th, 104th, and 119th - with the 25th overall and 44th overall selections coming from trades involving the Erie BayHawks, and the Reno Bighorns, respectively.
The NBA Development League draft takes place Thursday, November 3. Stampede fans can follow the draft and get a sneak peek into the "War Room" during the team's draft party at Legends Pub and Grill, 7609 W. Overland Road, Suite #100, Boise, Idaho 83709.
The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will alternate in each of the eight rounds. For example, the team picking last in the first round will select first in the second round, giving them the 16th overall and 17th overall choices.
The order of the first round will be:
1. Los Angeles D-Fenders
2. AustinToros
3. Maine Red Claws
4. Sioux Falls Skyforce
5. Texas Legends
6. Iowa Energy (to Bakersfield)
7. Erie BayHawks
8. Bakersfield Jam
9. Idaho Stampede (to Erie)
10. Fort Wayne Mad Ants
11. Tulsa 66ers
12. Dakota Wizards
13. Reno Bighorns (to Bakersfield)
14. Rio Grande Valley Vipers
15. Canton
16. Springfield Armor (to Tulsa)
