October 12, 2011 - NBA G League (G League)
Springfield Armor News Release

SPRINGFIELD, MA- The Springfield Armor received the 16th and final pick of the first round of the 2011 NBA Development League Draft through a lottery conducted last night at the annual coach's meeting in Denver, CO. The pick, which was traded to the Tulsa 66ers last season in exchange for the rights to Scottie Reynolds, will be followed by the first selection in the second round, which will belong to the Armor.

The draft will be held on Thursday, November 3.

"We're thrilled to be nearing the start of the regular season," said Armor President Alex Schwerin. "This is an exciting time for us and we're looking forward to bringing that excitement to Armor fans both on and off the court."

The Los Angeles D-Fenders will have the first overall pick, followed by Austin Toros, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Iowa), Erie BayHawks, Bakersfield Jam, Erie BayHawks (acquired from Idaho), Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Tulsa 66ers, Dakota Wizards, Bakersfield Jam (acquired from Reno), Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the as-yet unnamed Canton expansion franchise and Tulsa 66ers (acquired from Springfield).

The order of the first round will be:

1. Los Angeles D-Fenders

2. Austin Toros

3. Maine Red Claws

4. Sioux Falls Skyforce

5. Texas Legends

6. Iowa Energy (to Bakersfield)

7. Erie BayHawks

8. Bakersfield Jam

9. Idaho Stampede (to Erie)

10. Fort Wayne Mad Ants

11. Tulsa 66ers

12. Dakota Wizards

13. Reno Bighorns (to Bakersfield)

14. Rio Grande Valley Vipers

15. Canton

16. Springfield Armor (to Tulsa)

The draft is "serpentine" or "snaked" which means the order will be reversed in each of the eight rounds. For example, after picking first, Los Angeles' next selections will be the 32nd and 33rd overall. Springfield received the last pick in the first round (acquired by Tulsa) but will select first in the second round. Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will be given one pick in each round. No trades will be permitted during the draft, and only players signed to an NBA Development League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.

In addition to the 17th overall pick, the Armor will also select 48th, 49th, 80th, 81st, 112th and 113th overall in the 128-player draft.

The Armor tip off the 2011-12 NBA D-League season on Friday, November 25 when they host the Maine Red Claws at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center in Springfield.
