Fort Wayne, IN, October 12, 2011 - The Fort Wayne Mad Ants received the 10th pick in the 2011 NBA Development League's Draft through a lottery which took place yesterday in Denver, CO at the League's annual coaches meetings. The NBA D-League Draft will be held Thursday, November 3.
The Los Angeles D-Fenders will have the first overall pick followed by the Austin Toros, Maine Red Claws, Sioux Falls Skyforce, Texas Legends, Bakersfield Jam (from Iowa), Erie Bayhawks, Bakersfield Jam, Erie Bayhawks (from Idaho), Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Tulsa 66ers, Dakota Wizards, Bakersfield Jam (from Reno), Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Canton expansion franchise and Tulsa 66ers (from Springfield).
The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will alternate in each of the eight rounds. For example, the team picking last in the first round will select first in the second round, giving them the 16th and 17th overall choices.
Last season, the Mad Ants traded their 3rd round pick to the Austin Toros through a three way trade with the Erie BayHawks for Derek Raivio and their 4th round pick to the Iowa Energy for Marvin Phillips Jr.
