Saginaw Spirit News Release
The Toronto St. Michael's Majors proved to be too much for Saginaw on Sunday afternoon, stoping the Spirit 6-3 in Toronto. St. Mike's scored the first five goals, two on power play chances before the Spirit answered. Spirit defenseman Adam Gibson put Saginaw on the board half way through the second period to make it 5-1 Toronto. The next goal was also Saginaw's, half way through the third period when Nick Lees knocked in a bouncing puck from an Adam Gibson shot to make it 5-2. Toronto would score next, before defenseman Adam Sturgeon cut the lead to 6-3 on a short handed goal from a Taylor Raszka face off. But that's where the score would remain.
Lees and Gibson both turned in two point games for the Spirit.
Spirit goaltender Eric Pfligler started the game, but was replaced by Mike Brown in the second period. The Spirit out shot Toronto 46-29.
The loss takes Saginaw's record to 14-35-2-3 on the season. Saginaw returns to ice Friday in London against the Knights, and returns home to Saginaw on Saturday against the Guelph Storm at 7:00 PM. London and Guelph are the first and second best teams in the Western Conference.
