Rangers Make It A Weekend Sweep

Kitchener, ON: The Rangers capped off a perfect weekend tonight with a 6-4 win over the visiting Owen Sound Attack before a crowd of 5,340 at The Aud.

Paul McFarland started the scoring at 2:33 with his 11th goal of the season, a new career best. Evan McGrath made it a 2-0 game with his 15th of the year at 9:56 on the power play. Jesse Boucher (18) and Nathan O'Nabigon (22) made it a 4-0 game before the Attack got back into the game.

Adam Smyth and Stefan Ruzicka each scored to close the gap to 4-2 after the opening period.

In the second period Patrick Jarrett cut the Rangers lead to 4-3 with a power play goal at 5:50. David Clarkson added his 20th of the year at 14:22 while on the power play to make the score 5-3.

Nathan O'Nabigon added an insurance goal in the third period to make it 6-4, his second of the game at 5:40. The goal was also his 23rd of season, a new career high.

Brad Topping stopped 31 of 35 shots he faced for the victory.

The Rangers next home game is Tuesday, February 10th vs the Guelph Storm. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Game Notes: Brad Topping picked up his 11th win of the season...Topping is 3-0 in his past 3 decisions...Nathan O'Nabigon scored his career best 23rd goal of the season...David Clarkson scored the game-winning goal, his 3rd of the season and added an assist...Paul McFarland achieved a new career high with 11 goals...the Rangers were 3/8 on the power play...the Attack were 2/8 on the power play...Stefan Ruzicka picked up 3 points and now leads all OHL rookies with 56 points...Petr Kanko and Adam Keefe each collected 2 assists in the win...O'Nabigon had 7 PIM's in the game...Michael Richards was held without a point...Attack goalie Robert Gherson was pulled after allowing 4 goals on 10 shots...Rangers have won 4 in a row...the Rangers have outscored their opposition 20-8 over those 4 games...the Attack are now 3-3-0 in their past 6 games.
