Springfield, MO - The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta is scheduled to begin a Rehab Assignment with the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field on Friday, May 27.

The Cardinals take on the Frisco RoughRiders on Friday, May 27 at 7:10pm, with AM Pyrotechnics Friday Night Fireworks featuring Power Ballads. Friday's game will also feature Missouri Lottery Baseball Bingo. Click the link below to get your tickets right now.

Peralta, 33, is in his third season with the Cardinals after signing as a free agent in November, 2013. Long regarded as one of the best offensive shortstops in Major League Baseball, Peralta set the Cardinals franchise record for single-season home runs by a shortstop with 21 in 2014, becoming the first shortstop to lead the team in homers since Bobby Wallace in 1899.

A three-time All-Star through his 14-year Major League career, Peralta was voted by the fans as the starting shortstop on the National League All-Star Team in 2015, his second season as a Cardinal. Through 1,695 big league games, Peralta has a career average of .268 with 194 home runs, 844 RBIs, 801 runs, 359 doubles and 1,675 hits. A native of Santiago, Dominican Republic, Peralta began his career with the Cleveland Indians and made his Major League debut on 6/12/13.
