ST. PAUL, MN- The Blacksnakes (22-21, 48-43) got an outstanding start from J.C. Huguet in a 5-3 win at St. Paul (22-22, 51-41). The win moves the Blacksnakes to within two-and-a-half games of the Saints for the wild card in the North Division.

Limited to just one hit through the first four innings, St. Joe struck for four runs in the fifth on six hits against Justin Lord. Misha Dworken and Denver Kitch singled to start the rally with Ben Thomas and Mark Burke producing RBI singles and Cory Harris driving in a pair.

St. Paul halved the lead in the seventh but Wil Quintana hit his 20th home run to start the eighth and extend the lead to 5-2. It was much needed as St. Paul got another one in the eighth.

Mark Burke had three hits and an RBI and Ben Thomas and Cory Harris each had a pair of hits to lead the 11-hit attack.

The series wraps up Tuesday with the rubber match from Midway Stadium at 7:05pm. Mark Nussbeck (8-3) is scheduled to start for the 'Snakes against left-hander Anthony Boughner (8-7) for St. Paul. You can catch the action live at www.stjoeblacksnakes.com starting with the Heartland Health Pre-Game Show at 6:45pm.
