Fort Worth starting pitcher Joel Kirsten was simply sensational tonight as he threw a no-hitter en route to a 2-0 win over El Paso and their fifth straight win. Kirsten struck out 11 batters in the process and allowed only a walk and a hit batsman. The win for Kirsten improves his record to 7-4. To aid Kirsten tonight, 3B Terence Green and LF Tony Mota each had 2-for-4 nights with a run scored. Green extended his hitting streak to 12 games. The victory by the Cats clinched a least a tie for a playoff berth.

St. Joe 5, St. Paul 3

St. Joe broke a scoreless tie with a four-run fifth inning and cruised to a two-run win over St. Paul. With the victory, the Blacksnakes closed to within 2.5 games of the Saints for the North Division Wild Card lead. J.C Huguet got his seventh win of the season for St. Joe as he went 7 1/3 innings allowing three earned runs on 10 hits with eight strikeouts. American Association pitcher of the week Jamie Tricoglou pitched the last 1 2/3 innings to notch his 19th save of the season. RF Wil Quintana hit his league leading 20th home run of the season for the Blacksnakes.

Sioux Falls starting pitcher Chad Scarbery evened his record up at 1-1 by pitching a terrific performance in beating the Lincoln Saltdogs. Scarbery would go 8 1/3 innings allowing no runs on just four hits with two walks and six strikeouts. 2B Kenta Suzumegano and DH Bubba Smith led the way at the plate for the Canaries as they went a combined 4-for-8 with a run scored and three RBI. Smith also chipped in with his eighth home run of the season. Lincoln CF Evan Tartaglia stole two bases tonight to bring his total to 38 on the season, which is tops in the league.

Pensacola 11, Sioux City 6

Pensacola scored five runs in the first inning and rolled on to an easy victory over Sioux City. This game was a slugfest as each team combined to score 17 runs on 30 hits. DH George Branch went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate for the Pelicans with two runs scored, three RBI, and his 11th home run of the season. SS Andrew Salvo also had three hits in five plate appearances for Pensacola. Pelicans starting pitcher Michael Hyle improved his record to 2-2 in the win by going six innings giving up four earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. 3B Jake Daubert had a 3-for-5 outing with two RBI for the Explorers.
