
St. George Snaps OC's Win Streak at 10

FULLERTON, CALIF. - Exacting a small bit of revenge for being swept at home by Orange County, the St. George RoadRunners pounded out 18 hits en route to a 13-5 series opening win over the Flyers on Friday at Goodwin Field.
St. George improved their record to 16-10 and increased their lead over OC in the GBL's Southern Division to 2.5 games.
A couple of notable streaks ended Friday night. The RoadRunners ended a season-long losing streak at three. At the same time, STG snapped Orange County's impressive 10-game winning streak.
Mac Nelson allowed four unearned runs in the first two innings, but recovered nicely to earn his fourth win of the year (4-0). Nelson struck out seven batters in his longest season outing, eight innings.
A.J. Valentine highlighted a four-run third inning with a home run (8) to left-center field. Angel Sanchez blasted his league high 10th homer in the eighth.
Three RoadRunners had three hit games - leadoff man Ryan Stevenson had a trio of RBI singles. Jose Rodriguez and Cody Nowlin each went 3-for-5 with three runs scored. Every St. George starter had a hit.
Adam Johnson (1-2) received the loss after surrendering eight runs on 11 hits in four innings. Nick Guerra went 3-for-5 with an RBI to pace OC's 12-hit night.
On Saturday, the two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 5:00pm Pacific (6:00pm Mountain). Each game will be seven innings in regulation.
