Tucson Toros News Release

The Tucson Toros defeated the Yuma Scorpions Saturday night 2-1 at Hi Corbett Field. The victory improves the Toros record to (10-11) on the season.

Toros Starter Dan Knox was absolutely electric as he earned the victory going 8 strong innings while surrendering 1 ER off of 4 hits. This decision improves Knox's record to (2-0) for the season, and it was the longest outing for a Toros starting pitcher on the season.

On a night that was dominated by pitching, CF Lyndon Poole provided an offensive spark for the Toros going 4-4 with 3 stolen bases and a run scored.

Tonight's game was tied going into the bottom of the 8th before Toros RF Curt Miaso blasted the first ball that he saw from Yuma reliever Cristian Mendoza over the left field wall, breaking the stalemate. It was Miaso's first home run of the season and it couldn't have come at a more opportune time.

Toros reliever Jordan Muir came in as relief for Knox and pitched a perfect 9th inning for his first save of the season.

The crowd of 5,418 came out for Souvenir Saturday, and was treated to an outstanding pitching performance. The game ran at a fast pace as the game time was only 2 hours and 13 minutes, good enough for quickest of the season. The Toros celebrate Father's day tomorrow with "Dollar Dog Sunday", and will close out the 3 game series against the Scorpions hoping to improve their record to .500 on the season.
