Tucson Toros News Release


The Tucson Toros lost 9-4 to the Yuma Scorpions on Friday night at Hi Corbett Field. With the loss the Toros fall to (9-11) on the season.

Starting Pitcher Rene Garcia (0-1) made his Tucson Toros debut Friday night receiving the loss after going 4 2/3 innings and giving up 6 hits that led to 7 Scorpion runs. Reliever Vince Davis also made his debut for the Toros going 2 innings while only allowing 2 hits.

The Toros were led offensively by LF Andre Marshall who went 3-4 with a RBI in the bottom of the 6th, and SS Ryan Priddy who went 2-4 with a RBI and a run scored.

Yuma starter Ronald Ramirez picked up the win after going 5 innings and allowing 3 runs off of 8 hits and 2 strikeouts. C Carlos Balcazar led the Scorpion charge going 2-3 with 3 RBIs.

The Toros enjoyed the highest attended game of the season thus far with 7,683 fans showing up for Military night and Fireworks Friday. The fans were treated to an impressive pregame spectacle as members of the US Air Force took off in an Apache helicopter from the grass in centerfield following the National Anthem.

Tonight's game was game 1 of a 3 game set against Yuma. Game time for Souvenir Saturday is scheduled for 7 PM at Hi Corbett Field, with gates opening at 6 PM.
