Orange County Flyers News Release

The St. George RoadRunners exploded for five runs in the 7th inning to beat the Flyers 9-6 in Utah and grab hold of 1st place in the South Division for the second half.

The Flyers came back from an early 3-0 deficit to tie the game 3-3 on a Jermy Acey 3-Run HR. They took a 4-3 lead when Dave Bacani drove home Travon Jackson in the 5th inning.

Matt Durkin was dominant through the middle innings and left the game with a lead, but he also left with the bases loaded and nobody out. Mike Natale could not pitch the Flyers out of the jam as Juan Melo and Eddy Garabito came through with clutch hits.

Terry Mermer, who recently signed with the Flyers, delivered a pinch-hit RBI double for his first professional hit in the 8th inning.

After a day off Sunday, Bob Cramer will close the series on the mound for the Flyers Monday night at 7:15 p.m. in the mountain time zone.
