St. Cloud Rox Win in Eight over MoonDogs, 14-8

Mankato, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Mankato MoonDogs were back for game two on Sunday as the Rox rounded out their six game road stint. The Rox defeated the MoonDogs 14-8 in eight innings as the game was called due to rain.

The MoonDogs took an early 2-0 lead over the Rox in the bottom of the first inning on a single to left field.

St. Cloud would come back to answer in the top of the fourth inning as Chris Paul kept the hope alive earning a walk on two outs. Vincent Jackson followed hitting a single to right field and Daniel Comstock earned a walk to load the bases for the Rox. Dustin Breshears also earned a walk to score Paul making it a 2-1 game. A double to left field by Clay Williamson would score three runs for St. Cloud taking a 4-2 lead over the MoonDogs.

The Rox continued to extend their lead in the fifth inning as Adam Martin hit a two-run home run taking the Rox to a 6-2 lead in Mankato.

Williamson led off for the Rox in the top of the sixth posting a single to third base getting the bats going and was moved to second as teammate Devin Pearson was hit by a pitch. Martin tallied a RBI single making it a 7-2 game. Rox' Luke Weber doubled to left field scoring Pearson to lead Mankato 8-2. On a sacrifice fly to center field by Chris Paul the Rox' Adam Martin would score to move the Rox up 9-2.

St. Cloud posted another two runs in the top of the seventh taking an 11-2 lead over the MoonDogs going into the bottom half of the inning. Mankato lowered their deficit as they posted five runs in the seventh to make it an 11-7 game.

Paul once again got the bats going for the Rox in the top of the eighth with a single to left field and would advance to second on a wild pitch. With two outs on the board Comstock would single to right field scoring Paul for a 12-7 lead. Breshears walked and Williamson doubled to center field moving the Rox to a 14-7 lead over Mankato.

The MoonDogs were able to post one run to the board in the bottom of the eighth to make it a 14-8 game. Due to a rain delay the game was then called resulting in the Rox defeating the MoonDogs in eight innings of play 14-8.

Earning the start on the mound for the Rox was Evan Wolf as he pitched 4.0 innings of work. Bryce Jackson came in as relief for the Rox pitching 3.0 innings and recording his first win of the season. Adam Maxon also saw action on the mound for one inning of work.

The St. Cloud Rox (2-2 North) will be back in action Monday night as they welcome the Thunder Bay Border Cats to St. Cloud and Joe Faber Field for a four game series. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.

On Monday, July 8 the Rox will be hosting their annual Community Spotlight Night presented by the St. Cloud Times. Come support your local non-profit organizations as they provide information and showcase what they do. It is also "Military Mondays" presented by Regional Diagnostic Radiology where active military members or veterans with a valid ID or military discharge papers receive a half priced reserved ticket (available day of game only).

The Rox game on Tuesday, July 9 will be a Jimmy Buffett Night presented by IRET Properties. There will be live music beginning at 6 p.m. and the Rox will be wearing tropical jerseys. "Not Too Old Tuesdays" will also be taking place presented by The Legend's of Heritage Place. The first 75 fans, 60 years & older receive a Rox seat cushion as well as reserved tickets for fans 60 years and older are half off (available day of the game only and based on availability).

The award winning national entertainment act "BirdZerk!" will be entertaining all night long on Wednesday, July 10 presented by Dickey's Barbeque Pit. BirdZerk! is an entertainment whirlybird with more tricks up his feathers than Houdini. Spontaneous, outrageous, cool and capricious, he plays to the crowd with comedic routines honed through hundreds of appearances at ballparks and arenas around the world. It is fun for the whole family, so come out and enjoy some wholesome family fun. It is also "College ID Night!" presented by 104.7 KCLD and WILD Country 99. All fans that show their college ID will receive a Charter Sports Deck ticket for half price (available day of the game only). One lucky fan will win a pair of WE FEST tickets.

Back by popular demand on Thursday, July 11 is Deuces Wild! Dueling Pianos as they will be entertaining all night long presented by Third Street Brewhouse. Third Street Brewhouse will also have craft beer sampling for fans 21 & older.
