
St. Cloud Rox Find a Win on the Road at Alexandria, 9-3

Alexandria, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox were back in Minnesota Saturday night as they traveled to Alexandria to go head-to-head with the Blue Anchors. St. Cloud would find their win on the road as they defeated the Blue Anchors 9-3.
In the top of the second Charlie Morgan (Jr., Wake Forest University) led off hitting a single but then was caught stealing second for the Rox first out. The Rox next two at bats would reach on a walk putting Dustin Breshears (So., St. John's University NY) and Tim Colwell (Jr., North Dakota State University) on base. With two outs on the board Vincent Jackson (Fr., University of Tennessee) would hit a three run home run over the right field fence taking the Rox to a 3-0 lead over the Alexandria Blue Anchors in the top of the second inning.
The Rox' Blake Headley (So., University of Nebraska) put a charge into his at bat hitting a two out home run extending the Rox lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning.
Alexandria would make a pitching change in the top of the fifth and hold the Rox to three up and three down.
Chris Paul (So., University of California) hit a base hit up the middle to get the bats going for the Rox in the top of the seventh inning. Clay Williamson (So., Cal State Fullerton) then hit a single up the middle as well to then advance to second and Paul to third on an error by the third baseman. One out on the board it was Adam Martin (Jr., Western Carolina University) hitting a single to score Paul taking a 5-0 lead. The Rox would make it a 7-0 game off a couple more singles and then Colwell would hit a two run double extending the Rox lead 9-0.
The Rox would hold Alexandria scoreless for six innings until the bottom of the seventh when the Blue Anchors would load the bases and continued to bat in runs. The Blue Anchors would shorten the Rox lead as they scored three runs making it a 9-3 game.
In the top of the eighth the Rox would get caught on a double play and a fly out to center field ending the inning still leading Alexandria 9-3.
St. Cloud was unable to get the bats going in the ninth but held off the Blue Anchors in the bottom of the ninth under new pitching Adam Maxon.
Earning the win on the mound for the Rox was Eric Nyquist (So., Mercer University) as he pitched 6.2 innings recording five strikeouts and held the Blue Anchors scoreless for six complete innings. Nyquist moved his record to 1-1 on the season with the win. Also seeing action in the game was Reese Gregory (Fr., St. Cloud State University) as he pitched 1.1 innings and Adam Maxon (Jr., Jacksonville University) for 1.0 innings of work.
The St. Cloud Rox (10-15, 10-15 North) will take Sunday off and be back in action on Monday, June 24 as they welcome the Alexandria Blue Anchors to Joe Faber Field to round out their series. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. with the gates opening one hour prior to the first pitch.
St. Cloud will also be at home Tuesday and Wednesday as they host the Rochester Honkers. Game times are slated for 7:05 p.m. both days.
Monday, June 24 will be a Tattoo Night, presented by Wingnut Tattoo and Body Piercing. Fans can register at the game for your chance to win a free Rox tattoo and the first 400 kids 14 and under will receive a Rox temporary tattoo. It will also be "Military Mondays" presented by Regional Diagnostic Radiology, Active military members or veterans with a valid ID or military discharge papers receive a half priced reserved ticket. Tuesday, June 25 is a Rox Poster Schedule Giveaway, presented by Rengel Printing. All fans will receive a 2013 Rox poster at the gate. It will also be "Not Too Old Tuesdays" presented by The Legend's of Heritage Place. The first 75 fans, 60 years & older receive a Rox seat cushion and reserved tickets for fans 60 years and older are half off!
The Rox final home game in the three game stand on Wednesday, June 26 will be a Mustache Night, presented by Wells Fargo where the first 250 kids 14 & under receive a mustache. It is also "College ID Night!" presented by 104.7 KCLD and WILD Country 99. For the game, all fans that show their college ID will receive a Charter Sports Deck ticket for half price. One lucky fan will win a pair of WE FEST tickets at each game.
