Bullfrogs Hold on for 4-3 Victory

The Bullfrogs rallied late on Saturday night and inched out a 4-3 victory over the Battle Creek Bombers to improve to 10-15 on the season.
After three scoreless innings to start the game, the Bullfrogs scored first in the top of the fourth. Ryan Drobny drove home Tripp Martin on an RBI single to put Green Bay ahead 1-0.
The Bombers then scored one run in the fourth and the fifth innings to take a brief 2-1 lead. However, in the sixth, Tripp Martin hit his league-best seventh home run of the season to tie the game at 2-2 again.
In the eighth inning, the Bullfrogs scored two runs to retake the lead, 4-2. Trevin Sonnier and Robert Youngdahl both reached on singles to lead off the inning, and then came around to score aided by a Battle Creek error and two passed balls.
In the ninth, the Bombers brought one home run, but closer Will Landsheft stranded runners at the corners to clinch a 4-3 Bullfrogs victory.
The Bullfrogs used five pitchers on the night. Starter Derek Callahan gave up two earned runs in five innings. Matt Freeman, Brian Trieglaff and Johnathon Tripp each pitched scoreless innings to bridge to Landsheft, who earned the save.
Trieglaff earned the victory. The loss went to Battle Creek's Todd Eaton. Landsheft earned his second save of the year and the ninth of his Bullfrogs career.
The Bullfrogs remain in Battle Creek for the rubber match of the series on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05 CDT. If you cannot make it to the game you can listen to it on 107.1 WOCO FM or online at www.greenbaybullfrogs.com.
