Richmond Flying Squirrels News Release
HARRISBURG, Pa. - The Flying Squirrels took an early lead but fell to the Harrisburg Senators on a walk-off single by Dylan Crews on Tuesday night at FNB Field
The Flying Squirrels (4-6) were held to two baserunners after the third inning. They held the Senators (4-5) to 3-for-17 with runners in scoring position.
Reggie Crawford made his Double-A debut and pitched a scoreless first inning, working around a walk. He closed the inning with his first Double-A strikeout, sitting down Washington Nationals outfielder Stone Garrett, who was with the Senators on a rehab assignment.
Tied, 2-2, entering the bottom of the ninth, Robert Hassell III led off with a triple against Nick Garcia (Loss, 0-1). Crews followed with a single to center, plating the winning run.
Logan Wyatt opened the scoring with a solo homer in the second, his second in his last two games.
In the third, Jimmy Glowenke extended the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single.
The Senators brought in their first run with a fielder's choice groundout by Hassell in the fifth. They tied the game, 2-2, with an RBI infield single by Cortland Lawson in the sixth.
Bertrand allowed two runs over five innings out of the Richmond bullpen.
The Senators put runners on second and third in the seventh, but Tanner Kiest struck out Brady House to escape the jam. In the eighth, Harrisburg had two baserunners with one out but did not score. The Senators stranded 12 runners on base in the game, including eight from the fifth through eighth innings.
Luis Toribio hit a single in the eighth, the first Richmond hit since the third inning, but never advanced past first base. Tyler Schoff (Win, 2-0) worked a 1-2-3 top of the ninth inning.
The Flying Squirrels and Senators continue the series on Wednesday night. Right-hander Carson Ragsdale (0-0, 3.38) will start for Richmond opposed by Harrisburg right-hander Michael Cuevas (0-0, 8.31). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at FNB Field in Harrisburg.
Following this week's road trip, the Flying Squirrels return to The Diamond for a six-game series against the Bowie Baysox, Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles.
