Squadron Complete Season Sweep of Celtics with 99-98 Victory

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Dereon Seabron's late free throw with 8.5 seconds left sealed a 99-98 win for the Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, Friday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

Karlo Matkovic's 21 points paced the Birmingham (10-12) offense and the newest member of the Squadron also earned his first-career G League double-double with 10 rebounds to go along.

The G League's leading scorer on the season, Malcolm Hill, scored 14 and all five starters scored in double-figures.

With the win, Birmingham sweeps the season series with Maine (11-11) and is 3-0 all-time against the Boston Celtics' affiliate.

The Celtics were led in scoring by JD Davison's 19, while two-way center Neemias Queta recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

The Squadron return to the court Sunday for a 1 p.m. tip-off against the Memphis Hustle in Southaven, Miss. The game is set for local broadcast on My68 and can be seen nationally on NBAGLeague.com.
