
Spurs End Legends' Road Streak

FRISCO, TX, (Dec. 9, 2014) - The Texas Legends ended a 4-0 road streak today with a 104-110 loss to the Spurs in Austin.
The Legends took off on an early run, going 9-2 as soon as the ball was tossed, but Bryce Cotton answered quickly to get the Spurs back in the mix. The two teams exchanged jumpers and tied up the match 6 times in the first 12 minutes. Ricky Ledo hit a half-court buzzer beater to try and switch momentum but the Legends began the second down 34-36. Renaldo Balkman grabbed the first points of the second to tie up the game and Booker Woodfox pushed the Legends ahead but the Spurs would again respond, this time with an outside 3 from Jarell Eddie to seal off the last Legends lead of the half. The Legends' problems came under the boards where they were unable to grab an offensive rebound in 12 minutes. The Spurs went up by as many as 11 before taking a 63-54 lead into halftime.
The halftime lead increased in the third as the Legends committed 5 turnovers in 3 minutes. The Legends' starters finally found their feet at the 4:30 mark as they began chipping away at the 14 point deficit. Two free throws from Bubu Palo would tie up the game with under a minute left, but Cotton had the answer from outside again and the Spurs found a 5-point favor heading into the final minutes. The fourth quarter saw another back-and-forth matchup as Woodfox knocked down 10 and JaMychal Green added 12 for the Spurs. The Legends forged a lead halfway through but were unable to hold on as the Spurs controlled the final minutes and took their fifth straight victory. The Legends shot 53% overall but had a season-low 32 rebounds and 13 assists in their first road loss.
Damion James and Doron Lamb combined for 50 points and James led the Legends in rebounds with 9. Woodfox came off the bench to add 17 points and 3 rebounds and Ledo added 14 points and a team-high 5 assists. Green led the Spurs with 32 points and 11 rebounds while Cotton added 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists.
