AUSTIN - The Austin Spurs (16-12) fell short to the Mexico City Capitanes (16-14), 125-120, on Thursday evening at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
Two-Way guard David Duke Jr. led the Spurs with of 29 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field and 3-of-7 from the three. On assignment from the Spurs, Sidy Cissoko tallied 23 points while Two-Way forward RaiQuan Gray finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.
Mexico City got off to a strong start, as they shot 73.9% from the field to close the first period ahead, 39-19. The Spurs came back in the second frame to outscore the Capitanes, 35-30, to trail by 15 at the break, 69-54. Duke Jr. notched 16 points for Austin in the first half while Philip Wheeler also hit 16 points for Mexico City. In the third quarter, the Capitanes kept their lead and went into the final period up by 17, 97-80. The Spurs used a 28-13 run with 2:37 remaining in the game, cutting the deficit to 4, 117-113, but wouldn't get any closer.
Ethan Thompson and Wheeler both notched 28 points for Mexico City while Louis King finished with 24 points for the Capitanes.
