Springfield Picks up First Franchise Win Maine, 100-97

PORTLAND, ME - It took ten visits north to Maine and a last second JamesOn Curry banked-in three-pointer from the top of key to get it done, but the Springfield Armor (11-28) finally picked up their first franchise win at the Portland Expo. The Maine Red Claws (14-26) fell to the Armor 100-97. The win also broke a seven game losing streak for Springfield while extending Maine's to five.

Springfield's bench scored 69 of their 100 points tonight, with Jerry Smith leading all scorers with 27 off the bench. Gavin Edwards contributed 23, JamesOn Curry picked up 13, and Eugene Spates, in his first appearance in Maine since a Valentine's Day trade, scored 11 to lead the Armor to the win.

DeShawn Sims led the Maine Red Claws once again in scoring with 25 points while Mario West was named adidas Player of the Game for the second straight game for his 21 points and seven steals. Jamar Smith added 15, while Antonio Anderson played a very solid game gathering seven rebounds, dishing out eight assists and scoring eight points. Craig Winder made his Red Claws debut since joining the team from Rio Grande Valley, contributing 4 points off the bench in 13 minutes of play.

Maine returns to action Thursday when they travel to Erie to face the always-tough Erie BayHawks on Thursday. Springfield will also next see action in Erie, facing the BayHawks on Tuesday.
