Springfield Cardinals News Release
Springfield, MO - The Cardinals will begin their final homestand of the regular season Tuesday against division foes NW Arkansas and the Arkansas Travelers at 7:10pm at Hammons Field!
Tuesday night will get the fun started as 4,000 fans will receive a Springfield Cardinals Team Baseball Card Set presented by Sysco Foods. These sets include all the Cardinals All-Stars and even catcher Steven Hill who made his major league debut earlier this month.
Wednesday is Drury University night at Hammons Field and the Cardinals will be giving away 2,000 Cardinals Caps in Drury's colors, black, red and gray.
The end of summer can mean only one thing, time for cooler weather. Bud Light will be giving out 2,500 Winter Caps on Thursday night for fans 21 and older. And the ever popular Johnsonville "Buck a Brat" night featuring $1 Johnsonville bratwurst will be available for fans to take advantage of one final time in the regular season.
Friday night will feature a special AM Pyrotechnics Friday Night Fireworks display as the Springfield Symphony Orchestra will be playing along with the fireworks! And, just before the start of the school year, the Cardinals will be giving 1,000 copies of the book Cardinal Fever presented by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. This instant classic is a tribute to all Cardinals fans and even includes a foreword by Hall of Famer Whitey Herzog.
Sunday will be the final Hiland Dairy Ice Cream Sunday of the regular season where all kids coming into the park receive a free ice cream treat prior to the game and, new to Season Six, will be the Wild Animal Safari petting zoo prior to the game on the Prime Patio. And, as always, kids are invited to Run the Bases following the game.
And, winding down the final homestand, Monday will be Fan Appreciation Day at Hammons Field where everyone that comes through the gates will receive a ticket voucher good for any game in 2011. There will also be closing day fireworks presented by AM Pyrotechnics.
If the playoffs started today, the Cardinals would be in, but with 15 games to go, Springfield needs as much support from its fans as possible. The Cards are only 2 games out of first place in the division and with NW Arkansas and Arkansas coming to town, Springfield still has a chance at a second half division crown. So, don't miss out on your chance to the see the Springfield Cardinals at Hammons Field.
Springfield will finish their series in San Antonio tonight with lefty Nick Additon on the mound against fellow left hander Nathan Culp of the Missions.
Great tickets are still on sale for the final homestand of the regular season. Game time Tuesday is at 7:10pm with the gates opening one hour prior. For more ticket information visit the Hammons Field Ticket Office, the new-look website at www.springfieldcardinals.com or call (417) 863-2143.
