Spring Training Underway at Duck Pond

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 10, 2013) - The Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks have begun their Spring Training workouts at Bethpage Ballpark prior to the start of the 2013 baseball season. The team's 14th season of play kicks off on Thursday, April 18 against the Sugar Land Skeeters at 8:05 p.m., with the Ducks' home opener following on Friday, April 26 against the Skeeters at 7:05.
"It's great to see our entire team together on the field and determined to win the Atlantic League championship again," said Ducks manager Kevin Baez. "The weather has been fantastic, and we are all excited for the first pitch to be thrown next week."
The Spring Training game schedule will include a home-and-home series against the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish and two contests against the Skeeters in Sugar Land (complete schedule below). Admission to the exhibition game on Saturday, April 13 will be free of charge as part of the team's first-ever Fan Fest taking place that day. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Saturday, April 13 - 1:05 p.m. - Bridgeport at Ducks
Sunday, April 14 - 1:05 p.m. - Ducks at Bridgeport
Tuesday, April 16 - 8:05 p.m. - Ducks at Sugar Land
Wednesday, April 17 - TBD - Ducks at Sugar Land
Individual game tickets for the 2013 season are on sale now. The home opener takes place on Friday, April 26 as the Ducks take on the Skeeters at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Replica Championship Rings, courtesy of P.C. Richard & Son. Prior the game, the team will hold a Championship Ring and Banner Raising ceremony in celebration of the team's 2012 Atlantic League championship.
