Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, N.J. The Camden Riversharks announced that they have signed six players for the 2013 season, including New Jersey local, Ryan Kulik.
As the Riversharks inch closer to the upcoming regular season, the team has employed Kulik, Manny Mayorson, Eric Gonzalez, Chris Andujar, Erik Lis and Armando Gabino.
Kulik, a Rowan University alumnus, was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the eighth round of the 2008 draft. A left-handed pitcher, Kulik played in the Cardinals organization for three seasons and made his way up to class triple-A in 2011. Kulik will assuredly find a spot on the Riversharks team as he is only the second left-hander that the club has available.
Shortstop and utility infielder Manny Mayorson will continue his 13-year career with the Camden Riversharks this season. After playing in the Toronto Blue Jays and Florida Marlins organizations for 12 years, Mayorson was signed by the Washington Nationals in 2012. He will bolster an already solid infield with his .971 fielding percentage average at second base and shortstop.
Joining Mayorson in the infield will be Erik Lis. Lis was selected by the Minnesota Twins in the ninth round of the 2005 draft and played for the Twins and Florida Marlins organizations during his eight-year career. Spending the majority of his time at first base, Lis will strengthen infield defense with an encouraging .985 fielding percentage mark over those eight seasons.
The Riversharks continued to add arms to their pitching staff by signing Gonzalez, Andujar and Gabino. Right-hander Gonzales played in the San Diego Padres organization from 2008 to 2010 while Andujar pitched for the Tampa Bay Rays organization through 2012 after six seasons of service with the team. Gabino pitched in the big leagues in 2009 to 2010 with the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles respectively.
"It is always fun to have a local ballplayer join the Camden Riversharks," said Adam Lorber, the Riversharks General Manager. "Fans will truly enjoy watching a player they remember from South Jersey."
