Edmonton, AB.: The Edmonton Oil Kings looked sharp in their powder blue jerseys on Special Jersey Night. It was too bad the Oil Kings offense came up short in a 3-1 loss to the Spokane Chiefs. Blake Gal scored twice and Edmonton native Levko Koper had a goal and an assist for the Chiefs.

"We've got to have confidence in our game," said Oil Kings Head Coach Steve Pleau. "It seems like we're waiting around for things to happen instead of trying to make things happen. I saw a lot of good things tonight but we have to get the result."

Edmonton gave up a shorthanded goal late in the first period when they turned the puck over in the neutral zone. Gal opened up Oil Kings goalie Torrie Jung's legs on a deke, and slipped home his fourth goal of the season. The Oil Kings power play is ranked last in the WHL and was 0-3 in the first period and 0-7 on the night.

The Chiefs got a lucky bounce midway through the third period when a long shot hit Oil Kings defenseman Adrian Van de Mosselaer up high near the face and bounced right to Koper. He snapped in his 11th goal of the season to put Spokane up 2-0. The Oil Kings came close to scoring on a goal mouth scramble that was reviewed, but the puck never crossed the line. Spokane crashed in on Jung shortly after that, and a review showed the puck did cross the line in this case. Gal was awarded his second of the night and Koper got an assist. Brent Raedeke scored the lone Oil Kings goal late in the game to make the final 3-1.

The Oil Kings (8-13-2-4) are home for two more games at Rexall Place before embarking on another lengthy six game road trip. Edmonton will host the Prince Albert Raiders for the first time this year on Sunday, November 22nd at 5:00 p.m. The game will mark the return of two former Oil Kings, forward Craig McCallum and goalie Dalyn Flette. It is also Signature Sunday where Oil Kings players will sign autographs after the contest. Edmonton will host the Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday, November 28th at 7:00 p.m. The game was originally set for November 29th but was rescheduled to free up Oil Kings fans on Grey Cup Sunday.
