SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Indians are off to a hot start in the second half. After exploding for 12 runs last night, the Indians used the long ball at the plate and got a stellar performance from Hans Crouse on the mound to defeat the Tri-City Dust Devils 7-1 in front of a sell-out crowd of 7,032 on Yoke's $1 Family Feast & Native Culture Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market and 92.9 ZZU.

In his prior start at Avista Stadium, Hans Crouse threw seven shutout innings and struck out 11. He nearly replicated that on Wednesday night. Crouse (W, 4-1) tossed seven innings again, allowing just one run and striking out a career-high 12 hitters. It's the most strikeouts from an Indians' starter since Tyler Phillips struck out 12 on September 2, 2017. Crouse has struck out 29 batters in 19 innings and allowed just one run in his three starts at Avista Stadium this season.

Spokane's offense gave Crouse all the run support he needed. In the bottom of the second, Francisco Ventura launched his fourth homer of the season to the Pepsi Porch in right field to give Spokane a 2-0 lead. An inning later, Curtis Terry hammered a 449-foot moonshot to the parking lot in left field to extend the lead, 4-0. Terry now has a league-leading 11 homers on the season, one shy of the 12 he hit last year.

Spokane added on in the fourth with a free rally. With two outs and nobody on, Tri-City plunked two Indians' batters and walked two more to drive in a run. Curtis Terry followed with the big hit of the inning, a two-run opposite-field single. Terry has 16 hits and nine RBI in his last six games, improving his batting average from .237 to .312.

Jax Biggers, the Rangers' 2018 eighth round pick, went 1-for-4 with two runs scored from the lead-off spot. Biggers has a hit in all 10 games he's played for Spokane this season.

The Indians go for the series sweep of the Dust Devils on Thursday for Christmas in July presented by Coors Light, 93.7 The Mountain, and 1510 KGA NW Sports Talk .
