Spitters Slug, Snap Growlers' Streak

Traverse City, MI - The Traverse City Pit Spitters recorded double digit hits for the second straight game, snapping the Kalamazoo Growlers seven-game win streak in a 15-9 win Tuesday.

Kalamazoo went up 2-0, but Traverse City tied it on a two-out two-RBI double by Alec Atkinson. After going up two again, the Pit Spitters would erupt for 13 unanswered runs across the next two innings.

11 batters came to the plate in the bottom of the fourth. Aided by four errors, the Pit Spitters put up seven runs. Trey Truitt reached twice, on a leadoff walk and an RBI double. Atkinson, Marshall Toole and Hunter Tabb registered hits. Toole, Sam Tackett, Camden Traficante and Tabb would register RBIs.

Lightning struck twice, as the offense scored six runs in the fifth. This time, no errors were needed as the first seven reached base, six on hits. Jake Smallwood and Traficante had RBI singles, Ariel Garcia had a two-RBI single, and Tabb had a two-RBI double.

Eight of nine starters recorded a hit, with Cody Hultink recording a pinch hit double, making nine of 10 players with a hit. It's back-to-back games all but one starter recorded a base hit.
