Rockers Fall on the Road Against Chinooks

Mequon, Wis. - The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Lakeshore Chinooks 9-1 Tuesday night at Kapco Park, to close out their five-game road trip after being on the road since Friday.

The Rockers drop to 7-16 on the season while the Chinooks improve to 11-12 and are now winners of their last three games.

Lakeshore scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the first, scoring three runs off an RBI sacrifice fly and two RBI singles, taking a 3-0 lead going into the second inning.

The Chinooks added one more run in the second off a solo home run to right, but Will Semb retired the last three batters he faced in the bottom of the second, as the Chinooks led 4-0 through the first two innings of play.

The Rockers got their first run of the game off an RBI sacrifice fly from Brendan Ryan, making it 4-1 after two and a half innings.

Lakeshore made it a four-run lead once again in the bottom of the third off an RBI groundout, but Rashad Ruff caught a Chinook stealing to end the third, keeping it 5-1 going into the fourth.

The Chinooks extended the lead to 8-1 through four innings after several RBI singles gave the home team a seven-run lead going into the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, Ryan Culley pitched a scoreless inning in his first career appearance for Green Bay, keeping it an 8-1 ballgame through five innings.

Lakeshore tacked on another run in the sixth on an RBI single, taking a 9-1 going into the seventh inning of play.

Following the top of the seventh, the game was called due to lightning, as the Chinooks earned the win by a final score of 9-1.

The Rockers will now look to Wednesday as they take on the Chinooks for the second time in as many days with this being their first game at home since June 16. First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Capital Credit Union Park with the pregame concert performed by Logan Spicer starting at 5:35 p.m. This game will also be the second of four Woof Wednesday promotions presented by Vital Essentials.
