Spits Top Sting in OT
March 13, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Windsor Spitfires News Release
An old friend tried to spoil the party, but the rejuvenated Spitfires wouldn't be denied.
Troy Passingham made 49 saves, but couldn't stop the one that counted most; as Tom Kuhnhackl scored 25 seconds into overtime to give the home side a huge 4-3 overtime win over the Sarnia Sting.
It was the third straight game-winning goal for Kuhnhackl - all in overtime or a shootout, and all 4-3 wins.
Ryan Ellis had a goal and two assists, extending his point streak to 18 games. Kenny Ryan and Kerby Rychel had the other goals for Windsor (37-22-3-3). The win moved the Spits back within three points of the Saginaw Spirit for first in the West Division.
Kuhnhackl's goal was his 37th - tops on the club.
