
Spitfires Suffer First Regulation Loss in Erie, 7-4

The Spitfires undefeated in regulation streak came to an end Saturday in Erie. The Spitfires were coming off a 3 games in 3 days stint and fell short.
In the first period, the Spitfires got on the board first thanks to Thomas Johnston who scored his 2nd of the season. DeAngelis and Renwick had assists on the goal. Peer would score 3 minutes later to extend the Spitfires lead to 2-0. Erie would respond late in the period on the powerplay to make it a 2-1 game.
In the second period, the Spitfires would score 55 seconds in courtesy of Maggio to take a 3-1 lead. The wheels would then fall off of the Spitfires and tired legs came to light. The Otters would score 4 unanswered goals to take a 5-3 lead.
In the third period, the Otters would score two more unanswered goals and take a 7-3 lead. Spellacy would score late to make it a 7-4 game. The Spitfires would suffer their first regulation loss of the season.
Windsor still sits first in the OHL with 19 points.
The Spitfires are back in action on Thursday at home when the Sarnia Sting come to town. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm.
