Kitchener Rangers News Release

Kitchener, Ont. - The Kitchener Rangers announced today that the club has completed a trade with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds.

In the trade, the Rangers receive the rights to and have signed Kitchener-native Blair Scott. In return, the Rangers send a conditional ninth-round pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection to the Greyhounds.

"We are excited to welcome Blair to the Rangers," said Kitchener Rangers General Manager Mike McKenzie. "It is always extra exciting to add local Kitchener products. He has had a great season in Ayr and we feel he will be a good addition to our back end moving forward."

Scott, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound left shot defenceman, was a fifth-round (98th overall) pick by Sault Ste. Marie in the 2021 OHL Priority Selection. He spent his youth hockey playing for the Kitchener Jr. Rangers in the Minor Hockey Alliance of Ontario (MHAO) and has now committed to an OHL Standard Player Agreement (SPA) and education package with the Rangers.

"It's such an honour to get that phone call from my hometown team," said Scott. "Growing up watching the Rangers on Friday night's at The Aud with my buddies makes this really special. It's just a complete honour to join this organization."

Most recently, Scott played Junior B hockey locally for both the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins and the Ayr Centennials in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). In 39 GOJHL games, Scott recorded 17 points, scoring eight times and adding nine assists.

Scott will wear number seven for Kitchener. He is expected to join the Rangers and will travel with the team to Erie, Pennsylvania today in time for Sunday afternoon's contest against the Otters.
