Windsor Spitfires News Release
On Sunday the Spitfires were in Oshawa for a matchup with the Generals. The Spitfires dropped the last two games meanwhile the Generals were on a 1 game win streak and 7-3 in their last ten games. The Spitfires were looking to stop the slide but were unsuccessful as they fell to the Generals by a score of 5-0.
In the first period, both teams skated to a very even period through the first 14 minutes. The Spitfires had a powerplay opportunity but could not convert. Just after the powerplay expired the Generals would score the games first goal. Delisle skated in undetected and received a pass from Marrelli before scoring his 5th of the season. The shots were tied at 9 at that point but at the end of the period it was 18-9 in favour of the Generals.
In the second period, the Spitfires had numerous chances but could not solve the goaltender Oster. Abraham had three solid chances but was stopped twice and hit the post once. With just 44 seconds left in the period the Generals would double their lead and go up 2-0. The shots were 30-21 in favour of the Generals after 2 periods.
In the third period, the Spitfires would start the frame on a penalty kill after a holding call at the end of period 2. On the powerplay, the Generals would score to make it a 3-0 game. Ten minutes later, the Generals would make it 4-0. With under five minutes to play the Generals would add another and go up 5-0 and that would do it.
