Kingston, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (28-12-0-1) travel to Leon's Centre to take on the Kingston Frontenacs (20-20-1-0) on Sunday, January 21st to conclude their weekend swing through the East Division.

Last Game:
The Saginaw Spirit and Peterborough Petes faced off on Saturday, January 20th at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. A total of 10 penalties were called on both teams in the first period with one leading to Rodwin Dionicio scoring a power play goal to end the first. The Petes eventually got on the board with Chase Lefebvre scoring halfway through the second period to tie the game at one a piece. Saginaw's Michael Misa broke the tie with 5 minutes left in the game, giving the Spirit a 2-1 lead. Zayne Parekh sealed the deal with an empty net goal to give Saginaw a 3-1 victory over Peterborough, and tied Patrick McNeill for the most goals in a single season by a Spirit defenseman (22). It was a busy night for goaltenders as Andrew Oke stopped 34 of 35 shots on goal for Saginaw, while Peterborough's Liam Sztuska stopped 45 of 47.
The Frontenacs were shut out by Owen Sound on home ice Friday night, but had a Saturday night of rest before this afternoon's game. Mason Vaccari started in the crease for Kingston, saving 21 of 23 shots on goal.
Last Season:
Last time the Spirit and the Kingston Frontenacs faced off was on March 5th, 2023 at the Leon's Centre. Maddox Callens and Gabriel Frasca gave the Frontenacs an early 2-0 lead going into the second, but Saginaw ended up scoring seven unanswered goals. Matyas Sapovaliv and Hunter Haight both scored two goals apiece alongside Joey Willis, PJ Forgione, and Sebastien Gervais. Owen Outwater scored one last goal for Kingston but the Spirit held on, 7-3. Andrew Oke started in net for the Spirit saving 25 of 28 shots. Ivan Zhigalov started in net for the Frontenacs saving 21 of 26 shots before being replaced by Mason Vaccari who stopped 6 of 8.
Players to Watch:
Zayne Parekh leads Saginaw in points (62), goals (22), and assists (40). Parekh is also second in points and assists for all OHL blueliners, while leading in goals. Michael Misa leads all Spirit forwards in goals (21) while Hunter Haight leads in assists (32). Andrew Oke leads in all major goaltending categories for the Spirit, including a 2.98 goals against average (GAA), fourth in the OHL, a .892 save percentage (SV%), and 18 wins.
Paul Ludwinski leads Kingston in points (43) and assists (28). Christopher Thibodeau follows behind Ludwinski in assists (27). Jacob Battaglia follows Ludwinski in points (41) but leads the team in goals (20). Mason Vaccari leads in all goaltending categories for the Frontenacs, including a 3.66 GAA, a .883 SV%, and 18 wins.
