
Spirit Take Game One of Series vs. New Haven

Lynn, MAâ The North Shore Spirit defeated the New Haven County Cutters 10-3 Thursday night at the New Fraser Field.
New Haven started the scoring early with two quick runs in the first off Spirit starter Aaron Dean. North Shore fired back in the bottom half of the inning with two of their own. Lucas Taylor led off with a walk, stole second and scored on a Vic Davilla single to rightfield. Davilla scored when Oglesby beat out an infield hit.
The Spirit tacked on three more runs in the second and another in the fourth to take a 6-2 lead. Davilla continued his monster night with a homerun to right, his 13th of the season.
New Haven inched closer in the sixth. First baseman Hector Lebron launched a solo shot off the scoreboard in center, cutting the Spirit's lead to three.
North Shore put the game away in the eighth. The Spirit batted around against the New Haven bullpen, scoring four times. Nelson Teilon and Frank Charles each had RBI singles in the inning.
Dean (5-4) scattered six hits over 7 2/3 innings for the win. Klae Calvert recorded the final four outs to pick up his first save of the season. Tony Harden (3-5) took the loss for the Cutters.
RHP Tim Hart (4-2, 4.05) takes the mound for the Spirit on Friday night and will face New Haven's Ryan Bonesio (3-4, 4.31). Friday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm.
Friday is Olympics Night to celebrate the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. Fans will have the opportunity to participate in Olympic-themed on-field contests and win gold medal prizes from Spirit sponsors. Also, for the fourth and final time of the 2004 season, the Spirit will host and extraordinary fireworks extravaganza following the game.
