
Spirit Down Cutters 10-3; Lebron Hits 3rd HR of Season

Lynn, MA- The New Haven County Cutters dropped the first game of a four game series with the North Shore Spirit on Thursday, 10-3 at Fraser Field.
For the fourth straight game the Cutters scored the first run of the ballgame. Jose Mateo led off the first with a single and stole second base. Two batters later, Hector Lebron doubled scoring Mateo and giving New Haven a 1-0 lead. They added to their lead later in the inning as Darren Ciraco delivered a RBI base hit plating Lebron and extending the lead to 2-0.
The Spirit answered in the bottom of the first against Cutters' starter Tony Harden. After leadoff hitter Luke Taylor walked and stole second, Vic Davilla drove in Taylor with a RBI single trimming the New Haven lead to 2-1. Two batters later, a Travis Oglesby single scored Davilla and tied the game at two.
In the second, North Shore took the lead and never looked back. After Harden retired the first two batters of the inning, a Luke Taylor triple was followed by a walk to Nilson Teilon putting runners on the corners with two out. The next batter Vic Davilla hammered a three run homer that gave the Spirit their first lead at 5-2.
The Cutters would get one run back in the sixth on first basemen Hector Lebron's third homerun of the year making it a 6-3 game.
North Shore starter Aaron Dean (5-4) allowed six hits over 7.2 innings to earn the win. Klae Calvert recorded the final four outs to pick up his first save of the season. Tony Harden (3-5) took the loss for the Cutters.
The Cutters return home to open a six-game home stand on Friday, August 20th against the North Shore Spirit. Every Friday night game at Yale Field is followed by fireworks spectacular.
