Spirit Take Game 2 From Allentown

The North Shore Spirit defeated the Allentown Ambassadors 4-2 at the New Fraser Field in Lynn. John Kelly got the win for the Spirit pitching seven innings and giving up two runs. Kelly is now 3-0 for the season. Jeremy Sugarman earned the save pitching two flawless innings.

The Spirit scored two runs in the first inning after a Marcos Agramonte double that scored John Schmitz from first. Agramonte made it to third on Allentown's throw to home and scored on a wild pitch.

In the third inning Agramonte had a single, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on Carlos Sepulveda's single to left field. Allentown threatened in the fourth and fifth inning with one run in each, but the Spirit held on to the lead with fierce offense and defense.

The Spirit added an insurance run in the eighth inning on singles from Mike Tejada and Jason Startari.

Carlos Gonzalez got the loss for the Ambassadors after pitching four innings.

Tomorrow, the Spirit will send Mike Hoyt (0-1) to the mound and Allentown will send Tim Davidson (1-1) to face the Spirit.
