Published on June 10, 2003 under Canadian American League (Can-Am) News Release
Seven former Northeast League umpires are working in the National Association this year. Scott Packard, who worked some major league games last year as a fill-in, is on the Triple-A International League roster but is taking a leave of absence.
Josh Miller is working in the Double-A Texas League, three are umpiring in Single-A and two are working in rookie ball.
"The Northeast League has seasoned veteran umpires but also prides itself on being a proving ground for young umpires," Central League umpire supervisor Tony Carilli said. "We've had a number of men assigned to affiliated minor leagues and it's wonderful to see them moving up the ranks.
