Allentown Ambassadors News Release

The Allentown Ambassadors lost their third game in a row and their fifth in six games, a tight game to North Shore 4-2 Tuesday night in Lynn, Massachusetts

The Spirit got out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning off Ambassador starter Carlos Gonzalez, who was making his first start of the year. John Schmitz led-off with a walk, followed by a Marcus Agramonte triple, and then a Carlos Sepulveda double. The Spirit added another run in the third, when Agramonte singled, stole second, and reached third on the steal on a throwing error by Ambassador catcher Kevin Moore. Carlos Sepulveda then singled home Agramonte.

The Ambassadors had their chances off Spirit starter John Kelly in the first five innings. The team had at least one base-runner in each inning and had eight hits. But the Ambassadors only got one run in both the fourth and fifth innings to make the score 3-2. Marlon Roche singled to lead-off the fourth, advanced to third on a Ryan Bordenick double, and scored on a Dan Singletary groundout. In the fifth, Kevin Moore singled with one out, and then scored on a Chris Hafich double.

The Spirit added another run in the eighth inning off Carlos Gomez, the first earned run Gomez has given up this season. Jeremy Sugarman pitched the last two innings to get his second save of the season. Gonzalez took the loss, his first, while Kelly pushed his record to 3-0. Roche was 2-4 with a run scored, extending his hitting streak to seven games. Hafich was also 2-4 on the night, with a double and an RBI.

The two teams play the final game of this series tomorrow, and then are back home on Thursday for a seven game homestand against Elmira and New Jersey.
