Head-to-Head
Tonight features the sixth of seven meetings this season between the Spirit and the Spitfires. Saginaw won the opening two meetings of the season by 6-5 scores, but have dropped the last three matchups with the Spits. Their last meeting was just over a month ago at WFCU Centre, with Windsor knocking off the Spirit, 6-3. Overage defenseman Louka Henault earned first star honors with a goal and two assists. New York Rangers prospect Will Cuylle added three assists for the Spits. Josh Bloom, Mitchell Smith, and Matyas Sapovaliv all scored multi-point efforts.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: The Spirit were shutout for the sixth time this season Saturday night, this time by the Soo Greyhounds and 19-year-old goalie Tucker Tynan. Tynan earned his first OHL shutout in his 67th career game with 24 saves. The Greyhounds got goals from Kalvyn Watson, Ryan O'Rourke, and an empty net goal from Cole MacKay.
Windsor: The Spitfires have won four games in a row, including a home-and-home sweep of the Flint Firebirds to move into first place in the Western Conference. The Spits offense has been on fire, scoring 26 goals in that four game stretch. Reigning OHL Player of the Week Matthew Maggio has 13 points in his last five games, while overage forward Daniel D'Amico has scored in his last four games, scoring seven times in that stretch of games. New York Rangers prospect Will Cuylle has at least one point in 10 straight games, which is currently the third longest streak in the entire Ontario Hockey League.
