New Haven County Cutters News Release

(West Haven, CT- June 25, 2004) The New Haven County Cutters (18-10) dropped their first ball game in ten games to the North Shore Spirit by a score of 8-1.

North Shore starter, Jeremy Sugarman improved to a perfect 6-0 with a complete game four hit one run performance. After giving up the lone run of the ball game, Sugarman retired 19 of the next 20 batters he faced.

The lone Cutters run came on a 2-out single up the middle by Gavin Fingleson in the third inning that scored PJ Johnston. The lead was cut in half, 2-1.

That was the closest that New Haven would come as Joe Hastings led off the top of the fourth with a leadoff homer, his first, over the left field wall to regain the two run advantage.

AJ Brack went an inning in relief for the Cutters and gave up a hit and struck out a batter.

Three Spirit players had three hits, Vic Davilla, Rob Fischer and Travis Oglesby.

The Cutters and the North Shore Spirit are at it tomorrow in game two of the series with a 7:05 PM first pitch. WEBE 108 Family FUNday (June 27th) is on Sunday in the series finale. Tickets are still available for both games by logging onto www.cuttersbaseball.com, stopping by the Box Office or by calling the Cutters front office at (203) 777-5636.
