Spirit Silence Aces

Lynn, MA – The North Shore Spirit began the second half of their Northeast League schedule Friday night with a familiar result, a win. The Spirit came from behind to beat the Aces 10-7 in front a raucous crowd of 2,579 at the New Fraser Field.

The Aces roughed up North Shore starter Aaron Dean for 5 runs in the first inning. The Spirit would chip away in the second, scoring three times on only one hit. After Travis Oglesby and Brian Macchi walked, Yuri Sanchez tripled to left-center scoring both runners. Marcos Agramonte would follow with a sacrifice fly, cutting the Aces lead to 5-3. North Shore would take the lead in the bottom of the third inning on Joe Hasting's 6th homerun of the season and RBI's from Macchi and Sanchez.

With the score knotted 6-6, the Spirit would push across three more runs in the fifth. The inning was highlighted by back-to-back homeruns from Oglesby and Macchi. Tim Hart worked 6 1/3 innings of stellar relief to pick up his fourth win of the season. Closer Ryan Bicondoa pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the ninth to pick up his league-leading 14th save of the year.

Travis Oglesby was the offensive hero for the Spirit. Oglesby went 3-4 with three runs scored and three RBI's. Brian Macchi and Yuri Sanchez each picked up a pair of hits for North Shore. Rob Fischer continued his all-star season by reaching base five times.

RHP Jeremy Sugarman (8-0) takes the mound for the Spirit on Saturday and will face Angel Miranda (1-1). Saturday's game begins at 7:05 pm, gates open at 5:30 pm.

Saturday is Baseball Card Giveaway Night sponsored by Dunkin Donuts. The first 1,000 kids (12 and under) that enter the Fraser Field gates will receive a complete 2004 North Shore Spirit baseball card set. The limited edition 2004 baseball card set is sure to be a collector's item.
