North Shore's Fischer and Brockton's Stutz named to Northeast League All-Star team

Durham, N.C. -- North Shore's Robert Fischer and Brockton's Tony Stutz were named to the Northeast League All-Star team on Friday, July 16. They will replace New Jersey's Wady Almonte and North Shore's John Kelly. The 2004 All-Star Game will take place on July 20 at LaGrave Field in Fort Worth, Texas and features the Northeast League taking on the Central Baseball League for the first time ever.

Fischer, an outfielder with the Spirit, is third in the league in hitting with a .338 batting average. In addition, he ranks third in on-base percentage at .427. In 43 games, Fischer has recorded 48 hits, 10 doubles, four home runs, 19 RBI and 26 runs scored for North Shore, which won the North Division in the first half.

Stutz, a right-handed pitcher, is 4-1 for Brockton with a 2.15 earned run average. In 23 games, all out of the bullpen, he has allowed 21 hits, gave up eight runs, seven earned, and struck out 30. Opponents are hitting .198 against the third-year pro.
