July 5, 2006 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
North Shore Spirit News Release

Texas will be overtaken by Spirit later this month, as a league-leading five North Shore players head to El Paso to play in the 2006 All Star Game versus the American Association.

Designated hitter Jeff Brooks, shortstop Chris Rowan and outfielder Andrew Wishy were all selected as starters by the CanAm League's eight field managers and media representatives, while New Haven County Cutters and All Star Manager Mike Church named Ryan Bicondoa and Bryan Morse to his pitching staff.

Brooks has given the Spirit with a big bat in the middle of the lineup this season. The towering righty is fifth in the league with a .331 batting average and he is tied for second in RBIs (27) and hits (45).

Chris Rowan, acquired in a blockbuster trade during the offseason, has been a steadying presence in the Spirit infield while providing team with plenty of pop in the lineup. He's batting .286 with four home runs and a .490 slugging percentage, good for fourth in the CanAm League.

Extra base hits are what separate Spirit right fielder Andrew Wishy from the rest of the pack, 19 extra base knocks to be exact, good for first in the league. He also tops the league in doubles with 17 and boasts a .294 average with 24 RBIs.

While Wishy, Rowan and Brooks have powered the Spirit offense, Morse and Bicondoa have combined to lead the North Shore pitching staff to the lowest earned run average in the league.

Morse, who was recently named the Slam Baseball CanAm Pitcher of the Month for June, is 4-2 on the season with a 1.66 ERA, while two-time CanAm pitcher of the Week Ryan Bicondoa is 4-0 with a 0.48 ERA.
