Windsor Spitfires News Release
(SAGINAW, MI) Garret Ross, Eric Locke and Nick Moutrey each scored twice, as the Saginaw Spirit erased a 3-1 deficit with seven straight goals in a blowout, 8-3 win over the Spitfires at the Dow Event Center on Saturday night.
The loss was the fifth straight for the Spitfires, who fell into unusual territory.
The win moved Saginaw (15-17-3-2) a point up on Windsor (14-17-1-5) for fourth in the West Division and eighth in the Western Conference.
Kerby Rychel (22), Trevor Murphy (3) and Ben Johnson (7) staked the Spits to a 3-1 lead early in the second period. But five goals in a span of 7:41 gave the home side a shocking, 6-3 lead after 40 minutes.
Jimmy Lodge (11) and Moutrey (12) put the game out of reach in the third period.
Jordan DeKort came on in relief of Pavelka, for the second straight game, at the 16:49 mark of second period, making nine saves.
The Spitfires wrap up the 2012 portion of their schedule on Monday afternoon, as they host the Plymouth Whalers in a New Year's Eve matinee tilt.
