Erie Otters News Release
Barrie, Ont. - Connor Crisp and Connor Brown each had two goals to lead the Erie Otters to a 6-4 road victory over the No. 8-ranked Barrie Colts Saturday night.
Stephen Harper put the Otters on the board 5:53 into the game as he blasted a one-timer pass from Jake Evans in the slot for his 10th goal of the season. The lead was short lived as Steven Beyers scored on a breakaway for the Colts at 8:36.
Evans scored a shorthanded goal at 15:07 to put the Otters back in a front as he finished off a nice give-and-go with Luke Cairns for his fourth goal of the season.
Crisp scored his first goal of the night in the final minute of the first period, as he chased down a loose puck into the Colts zone and fired a shot from the left circle between the legs of Alex Fotinos for his 15th goal of the season.
Zach Hall scored 2:56 into the second to make it a 3-2 game, but the Otters went back up by two 58 seconds later after Brown scored his 18th goal of the season. Brown fired a shot from just outside the left circle over the left shoulder of Fotinos to make it 4-2, Erie.
Josh MacDonald answered back for the Colts at 10:52 to again make it a one-goal game. Crisp quickly made it a two-goal lead for the Otters at 13:21 with a power play goal. Harper found Crisp in front, and the third-year Otter banged it home for his second goal of the game and 16th goal of the season.
Hall scored his second goal of the game 7:20 into the third to make it a 5-4 contest, and the third period would produce a thrilling finish. The Otters held up defensively and Brown would score his second goal of the game with the empty netter in the final second to seal the victory.
The Otters continue on the road to take on the Niagara IceDogs Monday night at 6:00 p.m. Fans can listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The Fan or watch online on OHL Livestream.
