Spirit Fall to Storm 5-1

Sunday afternoon fans gathered at The Dow Event Center to witness the Saginaw Spirit take on Guelph Storm on PNC Family Day. The Spirit fell to the Storm 5-1.

John McFarland of the Spirit got the scoring started for the Spirit, netting a shorthanded goal early in the first period. The Storm would respond at the 9:38 mark of the period, Storm's Tanner Richard scores to tie the score at 1-1.

The score would remain 1-1 for much of the second period until the Storm scored at the 5:30 mark to take the lead 2-1. Spencer Turcotte would be credited with the goal for Guelph.

Late in the third period, the Storm score back to back goals as the lead increases to 4-1. The third goal is scored by Cody McNaughton while Hunter Garlent follows quickly after him with another. With 3:13 left to play, Turcotte scores his second goal of the night to increase the Storm lead to 5-1 and that is how it would end.
