Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit (23-42-1-0) fell 5-3 to the West Division-leading Windsor Spitfires (44-16-3-3) Saturday night in front of 4,460 fans at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The victory for the Spitfires was their 13th consecutive victory.

In the opening frame, Louka Henault traveled down the right wing and found Daniel D'Amico in the slot. His low shot beat Spirit goaltender Brett Fullerton on the right pad side to make it 1-0 Windsor at 3:34. The Spirit got an opportunity on a 4:00 power play after Josh Currie high sticked Dalton Duhart, but the Spirit were unable capitalize. At 13:12, Avval Baisov found himself alone in front of Fullerton, and lifted the puck over his left shoulder to put Windsor in a 2-0 lead. Windsor led the shot clock by a 11-6 margin.

The Spits added to their lead 1:00 into the second period, when Will Cuylle fired a shot that banked in off a Spirit defenseman and past Fullerton. It looked like the Spitfires were well on their way to their 13th straight victory, but the Spirit had some fight left in them. It started on a two-on-one break started by Nick Wong. His pass across to Dean Loukus was on the money and led to the Spirit getting on the board at 11:31. 2:24 later, Luke McNamara broke in and his pass hit and Windsor defender and into the net. Saginaw brought the game back to a 3-2 score after 40 minutes.

Saginaw drew back to even when Roberto Mancini scored at 1:35 of the third period. With the score tied at three, the Spirit were given a 4:00 when Louka Henault was whistled for spearing. Again, the Spirit were unable to cash in on the extended power play. As the game went on, Oliver Peer broke in past the Spirit defense and put one upstairs to make it 4-3. With the net empty late in the game, Ryan Abraham filled the empty net to give the Spitfires a 5-3 lead.
