
Spirit Fall to Allentown

The North Shore Spirit lost to the Allentown Ambassadors 5-1 Wednesday night at the New Fraser Field in Lynn, MA.
Klae Calvert (6-3) got the loss for the Spirit, pitching 7 2/3 innings. Calvert gave up five hits, four runs (one earned) and fanned six. Newcomer Tim Hart finished the game giving up one hit and one run. Miguel Perez (5-3) picked up the win for the Ambassadors pitching eight full innings.
In front of a crowd of 2,045 it was a pitchers duel for the first five innings with no runs scored. Carlos Sepulveda brought the Spirit ahead 1-0 in the sixth inning with a solo homerun over the left field fence.
The Ambassadors, however, retaliated in the seventh scoring three runs off Calvert. Brian Macchi had a double to score Vic Davilla, and Greg Schmidt doubled to score Macchi and Marlon Roche. An eighth inning Vic Davilla double gave the Ambassadors a security run and Brain Macchi finished the ninth inning with a solo homerun to put Allentown ahead 5-1.
The Spirit and the Ambassadors finished with 7 hits apiece. Allentown's Brian Macchi finished 3-4 overall with two RBI and two runs scored.
Spirit ace John Kelly (9-1) will take the mound for the Spirit on Thursday and Nolan Fry (3-3) will pitch for Allentown.
The Spirit play game two against the Allentown Ambassadors on Thursday at 12:00 pm at the New Fraser Field.
